Nimrod Hanai (born 1983, Singida, Tanzania) is a contemporary African artist based in Zanzibar. Working primarily with oil and acrylic on canvas, he creates semi-abstract paintings that explore the complexity of human perception through contrasts of light and darkness.

His distinctive palette-knife technique produces layered surfaces that evoke movement, emotion, and fragments of lived experience.

“I use oil and acrylic paints on the canvas and abstractly express the complexity of human perception of reality.

My style combines fragments of light and dark colors and snippets of space and time that captivate the viewer. I use this contrast to describe the dynamic between what we desire and what we actually experience in everyday life.

Ultimately, the vibrant colors should inspire us and encourage us to continue developing despite limitations or challenges.”

My style combines fragments of light and dark colors and fragments of space and time which captures a contrast that is meant to inspire and give us positive energy.
